About Marie Nancy Séraphin

Marie Nancy Séraphin, MPH, PhD, is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine (IDGM), and the Emerging Pathogens Institute (EPI). Dr. Séraphin holds an AA in Biology from Miami Dade College (The Honors College), a BA in Biology and Sociology from the University of Miami, and an MPH from Boston University. After her MPH, she was the M&E Officer for a US-based non-profit organization with field offices in rural Haiti. In Haiti, Dr. Séraphin led the monitoring and evaluation of community-based HIV prevention programs and projects to improve maternal health and under-five nutritional outcomes. Dr. Séraphin returned to Florida to start a PhD program in Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the University of Florida (UF), where she graduated in 2016. She stayed on for postdoctoral training in tuberculosis epidemiology at EPI. Since 2019, Dr. Séraphin has been on the faculty in the Department of Medicine. She leads a research program focused on the public health genomics of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
