Dr. Hu received his PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Florida in 2016. As an epidemiologist with specializations in spatial analyses and health data science, Dr. Hu’s research interests focus on the development of exposome data integration and machine learning algorithms to better discover actionable patterns from big population health data. His research considers the totality of the biological, lifestyle, and environmental factors that impacts population health and provides personalized insights and recommendations that allow individuals and neighborhoods to improve their health and wellness. He is currently funded by the American Heart Association (2017-2020) to study the total environment and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy by using a precision public health approach. He also leads the effort to link data from UF Health Epic EHR and HealthStreet, and teams up with other researchers to study Type 1 Diabetes and prescription drug overdose. He is a member of the UF Precision Public Health workgroup, a multidisciplinary team established in 2017 to promote precision public health research and practice at UF.
