DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION IMPLEMENTATION TASK FORCE Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
As noted by the NIH, “Research shows that diverse teams working together and capitalizing on innovative ideas and distinct perspectives outperform homogenous teams. Scientists and trainees from diverse backgrounds and life experiences bring different perspectives, creativity, and individual enterprise to address complex scientific problems.”
In order to meet its mission to make scientific discoveries, educate others, and provide service so that we improve the health of the population, the Department of Epidemiology promotes such an approach to research. We are committed to an inclusive environment that promotes diverse teams of scientists. In addition, our students, faculty, and staff are expected to treat one another with dignity, and respect regardless of gender, age, sexuality, disability, socioeconomic status, religious views, ethnicity, race, or culture.
