In January 2016 a team from UF traveled to India to conduct a four-day research workshop on behalf of the NIH-funded Fogarty International Center’s India-US Training Program in Non-Communicable Diseases. This year the team consisted of Drs. Linda Cottler, Catherine Striley and Krishna Vaddiparti of epidemiology; Drs. Sara Jo Nixon and Rajiv Tandon of the Department of Psychiatry (COM); and Dr. Michael Perri, dean of PHHP. The workshop was held in Guwahati, Assam, and included attendees from our partner institutes National Institute on Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore and LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health in Tejpur, and some former trainees of the program. Scientific sessions and workshops were conducted by both US and Indian faculty, and the Fogarty team enjoyed the opportunity for face-to-face collaboration. Planning is already underway for the next workshop later this year.
