Research Interests: Clinical neuro-proteomics, biomarkers, and drug discovery in schizophrenia; neurocognition in schizophrenia; early detection and intervention in first episode psychosis; preventative psychiatry; Tamil literature and psychiatry.
Long-term career goals: Development of dedicated research group for biomarkers in mental disorders and their application in clinical settings, discovery of novel drugs for cognitive impairments, integrative and translational approach to propel research and clinical practices, training young researchers in mental health research and mental health education/awareness and advocacy.

What do you see as the most pressing public health problems facing the world today? Mental health and non-communicable diseases, climate change/pollution and its impact of health, lack of awareness among people and political commitment on health as a basic human right, unequal distribution of resources, enduring wealth gap, health worker shortage, underutilization of technological advancements in health promotion and delivery, and refugee crisis.
