Student/Alumni Achievements

Sheldon Waugh (on the left in the photo), a third-year PhD student, received a honorable mention in the APHA’s School Health Education and Services Section Student Abstract competition. He presented work at the 2016 APHA Annual Meeting.

Bin Yu (on the middle in the photo), a first-year PhD student, was selected by the 20th Annual American Association of Behavioral and Social Sciences (AABSS) Conference to give a lecture presentation. He will present the study “Peer influence alters the associations between HIV knowledge and self-efficacy as well as self-efficacy and condom-use intention among adolescents: a moderated mediation modeling analysis”.

Yunan Xu (on the right in the photo), a second-year PhD student, had a first authored paper published by Global Health Research and Policy: Yunan Xu, and Xinguang Chen. Protection motivation theory and cigarette smoking among vocational high school students in China: a cusp catastrophe modeling analysis. Global Health Research and Policy. 2016 1:3. She also had a letter to the editor accepted for publication by the American Journal of Epidemiology
