Two New PhDs in Epidemiology

SwamiandLiThe Department of Epidemiology is proud to announce two students graduating with their PhDs this semester.  On Monday, November 17, 2014, Sunil Swami, MBBS, MPH, defended his dissertation, titled “Anticholinergic Medication Use and Risk of Cognitive Impairment and Dementia in Older Adults with Preclinical Alzheimer’s Disease”.  Sunil was mentored by Dr. Todd Manini in the Department of Aging and Geriatric Research, and he will be headed to Boston in January to begin a postdoctoral position with the Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew Senior Life, affiliated with Harvard Medical School.  Zheng Li, MPH, successfully defended her dissertation on Wednesday, November 19, titled, “Health Outcomes and Pediatric Asthma: a Longitudinal Study”.  She was mentored by Drs. I-Chan Huang and Elizabeth Shenkman in the Department of Health Outcomes and Policy.  We are excited to add these two accomplished students to the growing list of Epidemiology PhD graduates.
